What Are The Benefits Of The Power Bank Spy Camera?

Discreet Design & Operation

Having the outward appearance of a power bank is key to this hidden camera’s disguise. The spy camera controls are cleverly hidden from view by an external panel that will slide off when pressure is applied in a specific way.

The camera lens is incorporated into one end of the device and because of the grille design on the end, is very hard to detect. The other end of the power bank has the usual charge and offload ports, giving it the appearance of a standard portable charger, to ensure it doesn’t arouse any suspicion.

One criticism of a portable device is that it can be difficult to know when the camera is being directed exactly where it is supposed to be. If left as a standalone device then this is not something that can be controlled or adjusted. However, if the operator is on hand, the covert camera can be physically moved to capture the subject.

The power bank spy camera has a 70º wide angle lens, which can help in this regard, but more importantly because it features a point-to-point (P2P) WiFi system, the camera view can be accessed remotely on a connected Smartphone via a free app. Other functionality from the app includes start/stop recording, motion detection and downloading previously recorded footage from the memory card that is inserted.

Concealed SD Card Storage & Rechargeable Battery

The device is primarily powered by an internal rechargeable lithium battery that can operate the device for up to 10 hours (when in WiFi on mode). If the battery life expires during recording, the unit will still back up the video or photos recorded up until that point, so no important evidence will be lost.

Alternatively, the power bank spy camera can take a charge and be used as a camera system at the same time, enabling much longer deployment. Video and audio footage, as well as photo snapshots are stored to a removable Micro SD card. A 16GB card will be supplied as standard, but memory cards of up to 64GB are available as a cost option within our recorder accessories range or in the package options above.

Files are recorded in H264.Mov format, meaning they will play on your Mac computer as well as Windows, so there’s no need for any special software. Can this Powerbank be also used to charge phones and other devices just like a normal battery pack?

The Powerbank is primarily designed as a spy camera, but it can provide a low USB output charge, however this will of course diminish battery life for the camera system. We provide a USB C and Apple Firewire cable to connect a device on charge and thereby help reduc any suspicion about the device being anything other than a power bank.

Has the device got a scheduled recording facility?

No, there is the option to switch between motion detection and continuous recording, but no scheduled option.

Can the Powerbank camera be used purely to record audio?

There is no audio only option. It is specifically designed to record video (with audio) and also the option of still image capture. If you want a pure audio recording device then please see our listening devices section.

How easy is it to determine that the subject that you want to capture on video is in view of the camera?

Firstly the camera lens is 70º wide angle so this helps being able to point and shoot. However, you can also link the device to your smart phone/device that will then allow you to see what the camera sees as well as operate the system from your smart device.

Because the Powerbank has a WiFi connection, is it possible to remotely view/monitor from a long distance away?

No, the WiFi is literally designed for setup and close proximity functionality (20 metres maximum) to enable start/stop, viewing camera aspect, settings change and remote download of footage from the SD card.

If the Powerbank camera is on charge then can it still be used as a spy camera?

Yes, the camera will still work when it is on charge, which will help you achieve longer deployment times. You can use the USB charge lead that we provide.

You will need to consider the following to use this equipment:

• You will need access to a computer with speakers incorporated/attached is required if wishing to playback recordings with the audio or a smartphone and an on-th-go cable relevant to your smart device (iPhone/Android).
• You will need a media player on the computer for playback of video/audio or files. If problems with playback are experienced then it maybe worthwhile downloading a free media player. We use VLC Media Player at Spy Equipment UK
• The unit recording storage capacity is determined by the size of the SD card inserted in the camera system. For example a 32GB card can provide 5 hours of video recording storage at 1920 x 1080 resolution, but greater capacity can be achieved by using a larger SD card or by reducing the recording resolution to 720 or WVGA.
