GPS Scout

The GPS Scout is a GPS data logger that provides accurate satellite tracking and data logging onto an internal micro SD card. The device is used for recording journeys and for tracking assets or even people. The GPS Scout records complete GPS positional data, which allows the user to glean the selected information that they require from time, date, speed, direction, longitude, latitude at intervals as low as one second.

The device has sophisticated power-saving functionality which allows the user to set tracking interval, sleep function and wake up function. This ensures that the user has the capability to optimise the tracking system to suit their own needs. Some users may want location data every second, whilst others may only want location information every 15 minutes. As such, using average settings the internal battery will last approximately 7 days on a full battery charge.

The GPS Scout is a GPS Logger Not a ‘live’ GPS Tracker. A ‘live’ tracker allows you to watch a vehicle or person in real time over the Internet. It requires either a monthly service connection fee, like a mobile phone, or you can operate on pay per use basis to enable remote access to live tracking maps and information. A logger is for after-the-fact, because after retrieving the device, you will have to connect the logger to a computer to upload the data that it has stored during its deployment. You will not need a monthly connection plan; there are no fees to upload the tracked information to your PC.

Please Note: The software for this unit is supported by Windows based PCs and Laptops. The software, and by extension the unit, is not MAC compatible unless you are running Windows in an emulator. A 2GB micro SD card can store up to 12 million GPS locations
