Amazing Battery Life

The usual problems faced with a voice recorder built into something as small as a flash drive is the battery life, however, the advanced technology built into this device ensures that there is almost no power draw when not recording in voice activation mode.

Other recorders available are restricted severely in relation to the length of deployment because of this factor, but this device has a maximum standby time of 25 days! When the unit is actually recording sound the battery will achieve a straight record time of 24 hours, but when in voice activation mode if there is infrequent noise in the area where the unit has been deployed then the unit could combine many hours of recording over the numerous days that it is left in position.

Alternatively, if you can leave it plugged into either a ‘live’ computer USB port or a USB to mains charger for unlimited deployment time.

Large Memory Storage – Extremely Discreet Switch

The Flash Drive Recorder Pro has a total audio recording memory capacity of 288 hours (HQ) or 144 hours (XHQ) which means that the device can be deployed, recharged and deployed again several times without the need to clear the memory of previously recorded files. On one end is what appears to be a loop for attachment to a keyring but actually, it is a revolving bezel, an extremely discreet switch mechanism, that enables the user to switch the device on and off discreetly with no fuss.

Voice Activated – Time/Date Stamp

This product is very simple to use. Choose between straight recording or voice-activated (sound responsive) recording modes and even store your other computer files on the device memory if required. The device is Windows and partially Mac compatible, so there is no special software needed to transfer your audio files directly onto your computer through speakers.

This all-new unit has a time and date facility that allows each recorded file to log the time and date that the recording was made as part of the title of the file. This feature does require a simple set up procedure which can ONLY be performed on a Windows computer. It is not currently possible to achieve time and date set up on a Mac, although playback of recordings through a Mac is still possible.

Adjustable Sensitivity and Quality Settings

The Flash Drive Recorder Pro records at high quality and has an audio pick up the radius of up to 10 metres (over 30ft)! The device makes no sound when switched on/off is and gives nothing away when the voice activation is started/stopped. The device is the size of a normal flash drive USB stick and therefore can be easily carried in the pocket or may be worn on a string/chain around the neck.

Through the included software on the device memory, it is now possible to alter the sensitivity to suit the deployment environment of the unit and there is also an option to increase the quality of the recorded file, albeit the increase in quality will mean a reduction in memory storage capacity from 288hours to 144 hours.

Is the device silent and discreet in operation?

Yes, the device is digital and there are no moving parts or sound alerts that would alert attention in any way.

Are there any lights that would indicate that the device is recording?

When the device is switched into record mode a discreet LED illuminates for a couple of seconds, but then goes out and then there is no indication that recording is taking place.

Do the recordings have a time and date stamp?

Yes, the unit can be programed to show a time and date for each recorded file. This can only be set up on a Windows computer although playback of recordings can happen on both Windows and Mac machines.

Will the recorder still record if it is hidden away from view?

Yes, the recorder will still pick up sounds from the environment, although if it is heavily buried out of site, the microphone effectiveness may be reduced. 

How can the recordings be played back? 

Recordings can be played back through computer speakers by plugging into the USB port of a Windows or Mac computer. No special software is needed.

Is there a voice activation feature that can be switched on?

Yes, the Flash Recorder Pro can be switched on in both voice activation or straight record mode. It is up to you.

Does the device record one big long file with no breaks or does it recorder numerous shorter recording files?

In voice activation mode, the recorder will record a new file each time the microphone picks up enough sound to start the recording process and then ends the file when the sounds, voices, etc. have stopped. In straight record mode the recorder will make one long recording.

You will need to consider the following to use this equipment:

• There is no special password system to restrict access to recorded files.
• It is recommended that lithium batteries are charged and fully discharged regularly to keep them in optimum operational condition.
• You will need a computer with speakers attached if wishing to playback recordings through your PC or Laptop.
